My servants will sing out of the joy of their hearts … Be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy. I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people; the sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more.

Rejoice with Jerusalem and be glad for her, all you who love her; rejoice greatly with her, all you who mourn over her. For you will nurse and be satisfied at her comforting breasts; you will drink deeply and delight in her overflowing abundance.

For this is what the Lord says: “I will extend peace to her like a river, and the wealth of nations like a flooding stream; you will nurse and be carried on her arm and dandled on her knees. As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.”

When you see this, your heart will rejoice and you will flourish like grass; the hand of the Lord will be made known to his servants but his fury will be shown to his foes.

Sing, Daughter Zion; shout aloud, Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, Daughter Jerusalem!

“Shout and be glad, Daughter Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you,” declares the Lord.

Provide for those who grieve in Zion, to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.

Those the Lord has rescued will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.

I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteous-ness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.

Be glad, people of Zion, rejoice in the Lord your God, for he has given you the autumn rains in righteousness. He sends you abundant showers, both autumn and spring rains, as before … yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.

And their hearts will be glad as with wine. Their children will see it and be joyful; their hearts will rejoice in the Lord.

The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing. … Evildoers are snared by their own sin, but the righteous shout for joy and are glad.

To the person who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as soldiers rejoice when dividing the plunder.

Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.

In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”

Once more the humble will rejoice in the Lord; the needy will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel. … and those the Lord has rescued will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.

But you will rejoice in the Lord and glory in the Holy One of Israel.

Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.

Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, Lord. They rejoice in your name all day long; they exult in your righteousness.

Light shines on the righteous and joy on the upright in heart. Rejoice in the Lord, you who are righteous, and praise his holy name.

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you—I, whom you have redeemed.

Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart … I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches … I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word. … Your statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart. … I rejoice in your promise like one who finds great spoil. … Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.

Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King.

May my meditation be pleasing to him, as I rejoice in the Lord.

Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?

These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go to the house of God under the protection of the Mighty One with shouts of joy and praise among the festive throng.

Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice … Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

Then I will go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight. I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God.

But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful.

But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who long for your saving help always say, “The Lord is great!”

Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. … He brought out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy …

Then my soul will rejoice in the Lord and delight in his salvation.

I will be fully satisfied, as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you. On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings.

Weeping may stay for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. … You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. LORD my God, I will praise you forever.

Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.

I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay.

You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.

May we shout for joy over your victory and lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the Lord grant all your requests.

The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.

You are to rejoice before the Lord your God in everything you put your hand to. … My heart rejoices in the Lord; in the Lord my horn is lifted high.

The Lord … filled them with joy. … Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.

And on that day they offered great sacrifices, rejoicing because God had given them great joy. The women and children also rejoiced. The sound of rejoicing in Jerusalem could be heard far away.

Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling. … He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.

But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.

I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High. … I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.

Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart!

In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. … Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.

Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.

If we say we love God yet hate a brother or sister, we are liars. … For if we do not love a fellow believer, whom we have seen, we cannot love God, whom we have not seen. And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love one another.

This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. … I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning … that we love one another.

For this is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another. … Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

Those who love their fellow believers live in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble. … We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death.

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for one another. If any one of you has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in you? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.

And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. … Since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
